Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) has submitted amendments to its privacy compliance proposals in the UK, according to the Competition Market Authority (CMA) on Friday. These changes include limitations on the use of certain data from all advertisers on its Facebook Marketplace platform, building upon commitments accepted by the CMA in November.
The accepted proposals from November aimed to prevent Meta from leveraging its advertising customers’ data. Among these commitments was the provision for competitors advertising on Meta’s platforms to opt out of having their data utilized for enhancing Facebook Marketplace.
The CMA has provisionally accepted the proposed changes and is seeking input from interested third parties on the matter, with the consultation period ending on June 14.
Details regarding any additional changes to Meta’s earlier proposals, which were accepted in November, were not disclosed in the announcement.
It’s worth noting that Amazon.com also made commitments in November, pledging not to utilize marketplace data from rival sellers, ensuring fair competition for third-party sellers.
