Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) has introduced a new Generative Remove feature for Lightroom, powered by Firefly AI technology. This cutting-edge GenAI tool enables seamless removal of objects from photos and is now available as an early access feature.
According to Adobe, Generative Remove is adept at tackling even the most intricate backgrounds. The feature excels in editing tasks such as removing stains from patterned shirts, smoothing out wrinkles on tablecloths in food photography, eliminating unwanted reflections in water, and more.
The roots of Firefly AI date back to March 2023 when Adobe initially ventured into generative AI technology. Firefly represents the culmination of Adobe’s AI journey, blending advanced “gentech” models with decades of expertise in imaging, typography, and illustration to produce high-quality assets across various Adobe platforms.
Since its launch, Firefly has evolved significantly, offering functionalities like text-to-image generation, style adaptation for images, integration into Adobe’s video suite, vector graphic design in Illustrator, and the addition of Generative Fill features.
Adobe emphasizes its collaboration with the photography community to enhance and broaden the capabilities of the new Remove tool continually.
In addition to the Generative Remove feature, Adobe also announced the availability of Lens Blur, leveraging generative technology to create bokeh-style effects in images, enhancing depth perception.
These advancements underscore Adobe’s commitment to leveraging AI and generative technology to empower users across its Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Document Cloud platforms.
