SINGAPORE, March 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Hero Esports, the largest esports company in Asia, was pleased to participate at the inaugural CNBC CONVERGE LIVE conference in Singapore, where Danny Tang, Co-Founder and CEO, was invited as a guest speaker.
The conference, which was held at the Jewel Changi Airport, brought together leaders, entrepreneurs and investors to unlock new opportunities at the intersection of technology, sustainability and leadership in business, sports, esports and entertainment.
Speaking with CNBC senior technology reporter Arjun Kharpal on a fireside chat titled ‘Inside the Billion Dollar E-sports Industry’, Danny discussed the rapid expansion and professionalization of esports, along with the impact of AI on the industry’s exponential global growth trajectory.
Speaking at the event, Danny Tang, Co-Founder and CEO of Hero Esports, said: “It is an honor to speak at CNBC CONVERGE LIVE and meet so many esteemed business leaders, in addition to members of Singapore’s Economic Development Board and government.
“Asia has long been a hotspot for esports, and the global reach of the tournaments is testament to the international interest and support that is driving growth in the sector. But we’re still at the very beginning of what will be the first 100 years of the esports industry.
“Like traditional sports and media, esports is a connecting experience that everyone can enjoy and share. In Asia and China, we benefited from the fact that our whole gaming community was an early adopter of mobile gaming, which has now proved to be a segment of the market that has broadened the breadth and depth of esports audiences and gaming-related content. With mobile phones, people can play games and compete at anytime and anywhere.
“The business models in our industry will change over time but, right now, there are multiple revenue streams. Game developers are willing and eager to invest in the esports ecosystem to help extend community engagement with their games. Brands are also engaging with esports through sponsorship because they recognize the potential to capture an audience base that is young and diverse with almost equal gender influence.
“If you look at the brands that sponsor events like ours, they are using esports to reach their target audiences. These are not just niche brands anymore; we are seeing jewelry, shampoo, gasoline and car brands engage with the industry, all of which realize that, if they want to speak to the younger population, esports is an industry that they must invest in.”
